About Murge Designs
Robyn Murgio became inspired to start Murge Designs after she had been looking for a duvet cover for her own bed for two years. She could not find anything that expressed her funky sense of style so she decided to design and sew a duvet cover for herself. As soon as her friends and family saw it, they began requesting their own duvets and Murge Designs was born. As Robyn's circle of buyers told their families and friends, word spread like wildfire.
Murge Designs has expanded markedly over the years. Initially, Robyn presented a collection of bedding and throw pillows. Then, in the fall of 2003, she spread her unique design perspective to the kitchen with the debut of an apron and potholder line. In the winter of 2005, she unveiled her own original line of printed cotton fabrics in a brand new collection of placemats and napkins. Most recently, Robyn has moved into the realm of baby goods, adding a line of crib bedding and baby accessories, including bibs, burp cloths and blankets. Simultaneously, she has added a line of distinctive canvas, diaper bags, tote bags and wallets. Now Murge Designs' innovative goods are available for the home, baby and woman on the go.
Robyn's undergraduate degree in art, design and art history from Dartmouth College as well as her Masters degree in Modern and Contemporary Art from Columbia University have helped her develop a keen sense of design and an impeccable eye for color and composition. Murge Designs combines her rigorous academic exploration of the arts with her long-standing entrepreneurial spirit beginning in the fifth grade when she was reprimanded by the school principal for selling hand made hair bows to students during recess. But despite the principal's reprove, Robyn has continued her entrepreneurial pursuits. Now you can find Murge Designs' bold and unique collection of home textiles, baby goods and personal accessories in over a hundred international retail locations.
